Vince Iwasaki

Principal 

He joins the District as an experienced educational leader from the Alum Rock Elementary School District with over 10 years of site administrative experience. Previously the Principal of Renaissance Academy at Mathson, Vince has served as the Principal and Assistant Principal at Alum Rock and also possesses eight years of middle school teaching experience in math and science. Vince received his teaching credential and Master’s in Educational Leadership from San Jose State and earned a Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering from Stanford University.

Giovanni Bui has over 15 years of educational experience. Most recently he was the Principal of Broadway High School in San Jose. Prior to that, he was Assistant Principal of John Muir Middle school and a seventh-grade teacher and activities director at Hoover Middle School, in San Jose. He has his M.A. in Educational Leadership and Administrative Credential from San Jose State University.

Angela Guzmán

Dr. Angela Guzmán was born in Mountain View and raised in Sunnyvale. Both of her parents are from México, and they established themselves in Sunnyvale about 55 years ago. She is the fourth of five children and is a first-generation college graduate. She received her bachelor's degree from UC Berkeley, her master's from UCLA, and just recently received her Doctorate in Educational Leadership from San José State.
 
She currently lives in San José with her husband, three wonderful children who keep her very busy with sports and academics, and their doggie Tito. When she is not busy with them, she enjoys trying out new restaurants, listening to music, and snuggling up on the couch with a delicious cup of coffee and a rom-com movie. Also, she loves the Dodgers! 
 
She has been an educator for the past 20 years, most recently as a school administrator in San José. As an anti-racist educator, she guides her work through an equity lens and keeps students' needs at the forefront. Angela has most recently served as the temporary Coordinator of Curriculum, Instruction, and Assessment here in Sunnyvale. As a Sunnyvale Middle School alum, she is excited to be "back home" as an assistant principal to support the next generation of Sunnyvale students on their academic journeys.
